Sam & Kady’s Final Project
The “Bug & Mule” takes on the final assignment to complete Chris Koens #GVCap105 class! We will be using the hashtag #BugnMule throughout this assignment so you can keep track of us! 🙂 Also follow my twitter at @AsoklisSam and Kady’s at @kadyvolmering
The significance of this logo represents Kady & I’s adventures over the semester. She is the ladybug and I am the mule. The mule comes from my full name Samuel, as many of my friends call Mule. Check out Kady’s page at https://kadysblog.home.blog/kady-and-sams-final-project/ 🙂
To start off this fun little scavenger hunt, we stopped a few of our favorite locations here at GV! Check them out below:
This photo was taken infant of the iconic Clocktower here at GV! Every time the clock strikes the hour we hear the bells ring and the song play! This photo was photoshopped to make the background not look at gloomy as it actually is! 😦 The Transformational Link here on GV’s campus! It is rumored that if you go under it before you graduate that you will not make it to graduation day! Scary right? We definitely aren’t walking under it! This art piece on GV’s campus is very special as it’s know as the Arch. This piece is very eclectic and lives right by Henry Hall. This fountain is located right next to Henry Hall and the Student Service Building. In the warm weather, this fountain is always going and is a hot spot for pictures here on campus. If you haven’t stopped by it, you definitely should. This photo is in front of the Padnos Hall of Science representing a pendulum in the physics curriculum. Physics is something that I really enjoyed in high school and is by far my favorite piece of art work on GV’s campus. Also, um… it’s like a wrecking ball so.. Miley where you at? This photo was also photoshopped as the funky filter shows.
Our next section is going to be the meme’s. Who doesn’t love them? Let’s goooooo….
For this one, we obviously did the Vadering meme!! Who doesn’t love that one? I’m being held mid air by Kady’s crazy powers?!?One of my personal favorites, the Quidditch meme. We decided to put our own twist on this one and have Kady lay on the bench in Padnos, a snitch ain’t one of her problems! This meme is one of Kady’s favorite, the Authur meme. The balled fists represent the anger we face when struggling with the last week of college.Annnnddd now for my personal favorite, “Ain’t nobody got time for that”! This one is a classic to me because I grew up watching this lady talk about her house fire she had and the way in which she describes it on film is absolutely hilarious. I related to this one the most as I am always on the go, so one of my sayings is this meme. Memes are very important in our culture not only for laughs, but to relate a message to the viewer that is connectable and understandable.
After reading the annual report for GVSU’s foundation, I found a lot of cool findings that I had no prior knowledge on. This infographic contained valuable information that showed funding for GVSU and how they’re making an impact on improving the our university. As shown above, they have a goal of $85 million that they are trying to raise as they continue to better facilities and education of the students. This also showed that the amount of private giving to university is much higher at $26 million, ranking the second highest in the past 10 years. In addition, I wanted to note the importance in a few of these points listed above. They have opened a new building downtown for medical students and they have one more they are building. These two buildings will advance education and allows for more space for these students. They also re-created the engineering center downtown allowing for more space as well for interested students. Both of these accomplishments along with the ones listed above, allows for GVSU to continuing improving its finest education for students.
Overall, my first year at Grand Valley was very impressive and I’m proud to be a Laker for Lifetime. I plan on continuing my journey here at GVSU throughout my next three years and look forward to whats ahead in my future. I chose Grand Valley knowing that I was picking the place for the best education for me and where I felt most comfortable. Grand Valley has showed me nothing less and am proud to be able to represent the school in a positive way.
I chose the photo below as one my favorite places on campus, with my best friend Emma. The clocktower is a significant landmark here at GV, as it’s the first thing I see pulling in on W Campus Drive. The chime at the hour reminds me of why I’m a #LakerForALifetime !
